Celebrate the arrival of 2027 at the Gatlinburg New Year’s Eve Celebration and Ball Drop. This free, family-friendly event brings thousands of visitors to downtown Gatlinburg for an exciting night of live entertainment, brilliant lights and unforgettable New Year’s Eve festivities.
The celebration takes place around the base of the Gatlinburg Space Needle near the intersection of Parkway and Historic Nature Trail at traffic light #8. Guests can enjoy live concerts and entertainment as anticipation builds toward the final moments of 2026.
At approximately 11:50 PM, an illuminating drone show will fill the sky above the Gatlinburg Convention Center with colorful displays celebrating Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains. The drone performance will lead into the event’s fireworks finale and the impressive 15-foot Mega LED Ball Drop at midnight.
When the clock strikes twelve, the massive illuminated ball will descend as fireworks launch from the Gatlinburg Space Needle, welcoming the new year with an unforgettable display over downtown Gatlinburg.
The Gatlinburg New Year’s Eve celebration has been a Smoky Mountain tradition since 1987 and has grown into one of the country’s largest organized New Year’s Eve events. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to find parking, avoid heavy traffic and secure a good viewing location.
