The 7th Annual Great Smoky Mountains Hot Air Balloon Festival returns to the scenic town of Townsend, Tennessee! Against the backdrop of the majestic Smoky Mountains, this one-of-a-kind event offers an unforgettable evening of colorful hot air balloons, family-friendly activities, arts & crafts, live music, and delicious food.

This cherished annual fundraiser supports vital local organizations, with proceeds benefiting the Townsend Volunteer Fire Department and Townsend Elementary School, ensuring continued service and education in the community.

• Balloon rides are tethered only and highly weather dependent.

• The festival operates rain or shine.

• No refunds for festival admission or parking; tethered ride tickets are refundable if rides are canceled.

• Please bring your own chairs. Bleacher seating is limited.

• No outside food, beverages, or canopies allowed.

• Pets are welcome but must remain leashed and under control at all times. Please consider your pet’s comfort around balloon noise.
