Our vacation at Hillside Hideaway was wonderful! The cabin was very nice and very clean, just a bit musty. The steep driveway and all the steps were a challenge, but seeing bear everyday made it well worth it! Matt and April were wonderful from the time we made our reservation to sending a worker out immediately when our cable service wasnt working. And that was on a Saturday!! Soo many great memories at Hillside Hideaway!!

I loved this property for our family of five. If you love and want to be immersed in nature but with the chance to get to all that Gatlinburg has to offer in a short drive distance this is fantastic! The place is not big but very cute and has everything you need. The bears are very present but they didn’t bother us lol. The only suggestion is to slightly clean the driveway alongside the mountain to make it more accessible. If you don’t have a 4x4 vehicle is pretty hard to get into the driveway. My suggestion is to back into it to prevent any damage to your vehicle

The driveway was too steep for a smaller car. The one bedroom was a converted closet, not much space. Fine for a small family. Not so much for a group of 6.

This cabin was sufficient for our quick weekend away. We did like the pet friendly cabin. However, there is not much space to take a dog out. Rooms were nice sized and balconies a plus. There are many winding steps from parking area to entrance. Cabin was stocked with pretty much what we needed.

Overall, the cabin was beautiful and the location was great! Unfortunately, during our stay our cabin lost power. (Also, told AFTER the fact this is common). Power was out the entire day, and as night approached we were nervous to stay in a cabin with no electricity, heat (it was sleeting and snowing outside), and minimal cell service. Bear Tracts told us we could stay in the cabin with no electricity or basically go home, and they were unsure when power would be back on. Luckily, for us we live close to Gatlinburg and were able to pack our things in the dark and make the drive home. I can’t imagine what would have happened if we lived further. Unfortunately, we lost a night and day of a vacation we were taking to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. However, safety comes first. I am very disappointed in Bear Tracts. After spending close to $1000 for our cabin, it would have been nice for Bear Tracts to have a bit more concern for the satisfaction and safety of their customers. There are so many cabin rentals in the area, we will definitely take our business elsewhere.

Manager's Response

Its a shame these folks left such a poor review over things that are outside of our control. Most reasonable people understand that no one except the power company has any control over the power. They spent 2 uninterrupted nights in our cabin and even stated how great it was. On their third and final day a major winter storm came through and took down power for the majority of the area. The guest noted a down tree on powerlines. We contacted The electric company who was aware but had no ETA as there were downed trees all over the county. This was relayed to the guests. David, our employee they spoke with, gave them the option to stay or leave and receive a refund for the night with no power. They never indicated what their plans were to us. I wish them the best finding a property where the owner can control the weather and power.

Spectacular moments were made at the Hillside Hideaway. This cabin is a definite gem worth staying at. We saw bears daily. The cabin was comfortable with amenities to cover all of our needs. The owners checked on us and responded quickly when I shared information. The owners are super hosts. I would choose this location again on my next getaway.Thank you for letting us stay at the Hillside Hideaway!
