The Smoky Mountain Music Festival returns to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in spring 2027, bringing talented student musicians from across the country to the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. With three festival weekends scheduled for April, this longstanding Gatlinburg music competition gives elementary, middle, and high school ensembles the opportunity to perform, compete, receive professional feedback, and celebrate their musical accomplishments.

For more than 30 years, the Smoky Mountain Music Festival has welcomed school music groups from across the United States and Canada. Concert bands, jazz bands, orchestras, choirs, winterguards, indoor drumlines, and other auxiliary groups come together for an exciting combination of competition, education, and Smoky Mountain fun.

2027 Smoky Mountain Music Festival Dates

The festival will be held on three dates during April 2027:

Each festival begins with Friday performances at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Ensembles perform before experienced adjudicators who evaluate their performances and provide valuable feedback. Friday's competition concludes with an awards ceremony recognizing participating groups and outstanding performances.

The excitement continues Saturday with the Street Parade Competition in downtown Gatlinburg. Student groups take their talents outside as they perform along the famous Gatlinburg Strip, creating a lively atmosphere for participants, families, and visitors. An awards ceremony follows the parade competition.
